I am conservative. I have strong beliefs. It just hurts to read articles and comments from people, like Julianna Moore, who are beautiful, smart, successful and clearly, completely against me. I feel the hate. It is hard to watch a movie with an actress that would erase you completely if she could. The comments she made about her role as Sarah Palin and divisiveness was what I expected it would be, but I accepted the teased bait for the article, hoping it wouldn't be. The comments from the public that followed were typically vitriolic. Of course actors and actresses are entitled to opinions, but theirs carry more weight than the rest of ours. It is offensive that someone like Meryl Streep will play Margaret Thatcher. How can Ms. Thatcher be treated well by someone who openly admits to "being on the other side." Julianna Moore has "no respect" for Sarah Palin, yet these women will benefit from the accomplishments of people they disrespect and no doubt will perpetuate their dislike to others in subtle ways they represent these women in these films.
"The man with the microphone" has the power. The entertainment industry has exerted incredible influence over the society we live in. I don't believe it has been all negative, but many God-haters and America-haters have held sway. Our lives and nation has been altered forever by their representations and opinions and spin on people and events. Again Once More I am disappointed, but then, I am conservative, I have strong beliefs and I just can't see things the same way Ms. Moore and Ms. Streep do. Unfortunately they will negatively portray women who I can admire. I suppose the only positive in this is that I can still believe in spite of all this influence. Yes, they have power and influence, but not all-power and they are not the only influence in this country/world.
